Whether the patient’s setting is a nursing home, hospital, or their own home, wound care and prevention and care forms a primary aspect of treatment. Rebecca Corbet, wound care expert and LNC, shares with you both the optimal ways to preserve skin integrity and the standard of care for treatment of wounds.

That treatment begins with a thorough physical examination and a detailed medical history and demands equal meticulousness during the course of wound treatment. Rebecca provides the details of what is required.

I am an Air Force Brat who has traveled the globe and currently resides in South Carolina. After careers in ballet and music performance, I worked as a licensed and certified Massage Therapist for two decades, credentialed by the NCBTMB, the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. I built on that foundation and became a Registered Nurse in 2015. Over the past five years, I have provided registered nursing care in Medical/Surgical Stepdown hospital units at the Medical University of South Carolina, Wound Care/Skin Integrity in a nursing home, and Home Health as well as Wound & Podiatry Outpatient care at the Dorn VA Medical Center.

My current Registered Nursing position is part-time (PRN) with the fantastic team at the Joseph M. Stills Burn Center in Augusta, GA. My Wound & Foot Care Nurse Certifications are via Emory University coursework and 1st attempt passes in board exams recognized by the WOCNCB, the Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing Certification Board.

This range of experience provides me with valuable knowledge and skills to work with attorneys on cases regarding the standard of care and documentation review pertinent to nursing. I am known for timely attention to detail and honest, compassionate patient/client interaction.
