Your résumé and curriculum vitae (CV) are your calling cards into a new job or career. (To simplify matters, I am calling them your documents.) As such, they need to be honest, accurate, and impressive. Learn how to polish your résumé with Pat Iyer and Barbara Levin.
In terms of honesty, it’s important to remember that your personal data is available through a few keystrokes. Honesty is no longer the best policy; it’s the only policy.
Accuracy is also important. The attorney who may be considering hiring you want to know that you are meticulous in terms of fact-checking and research. Millions of dollars and a family’s future financial welfare may depend on your ability to seek out the most important information. Be meticulous about billing. Don’t allow a client to accrue a big bill and be as honest as you can in terms of estimating expenses.
A further element of accuracy involves those all-too-often ignored aspects of spelling, punctuation, and grammar. An attorney reading your CV will notice typos and other errors, He or she may pick up factual inaccuracies or discrepancies in the dates of your work history. You can’t afford errors here.
Polishing Your Résumé – Here’s what you’ll get out of this session:
- What is the difference between a résumé and a CV?
- Why is it essential to regularly review each for accuracy?
- What styles of type give your documents the best appearance?
- How much experience do you need to be a well-qualified LNC?
- Will artificial intelligence affect the employee selection process?
